Dear Dr. Keller:

Thank you for your letter dated April 16, 2003, as well as, the brochure concerning the UCLA Globalization Research Center – Africa. It was a pleasure meeting you at the GRN-sponsored conference on HIV/AIDS Prevention in a Global World last April 2003.

I would like to let you know that we have recently established a Center for the Study of Globalization at the Global Foundation for Democracy and Democracy (FUNGLODE), where we will address the myriad of issues that encompass the multidimensional character of globalization.

We are quite interested in collaborating with the UCLA Global Research Center and the Globalization Research Network (GRN) in order to conduct a joint research project on the HIV/AIDS pandemic in the Dominican Republic, as well as, Latin America and the Caribbean. Perhaps this project could fit well with your HIV/AIDS initiative, which focuses on the pandemic’s relationship to health, economics, security, human rights, child rights, politics and gender.

The Director of our Center for the Study of Globalization is Mr. John R. Gagain Jr. Please feel free to contact him directly at: 809-685-9966 or j.gagain@funglode.org. I have provided him with a copy of the brochure you kindly sent me.

I thank you once again and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Dr. Leonel Fernández Reyna

President
